Rebecca Koch has finished her first internship with Upstate Exposures Magazine. Here is what she’s learned…
For six months, I’ve had an internship here at Upstate Exposures Magazine. I can honestly tell you that this has been one of the best experiences of my life. This magazine has taught me so much about journalism. I’ve learned that sometimes you need to think outside the box and ask a lot of questions because there’s no such thing as a stupid question. You can never know too much information. As a journalist, it’s your job to know as much as you can and the only way to do that is to ask a lot of questions.
Ms. Heather Kitchen has taught me so much as well. She’s taught me that it’s always good to have an open mind about everything. She has been one of the most influential people in my life. Ms. Heather has been so helpful with my writing. She gave me criticism when I needed it and even when I didn’t want it. I love Ms. Heather so much and thank you for allowing me to embark on this journey.
The past six months of my life have been so adventurous as far as writing goes. From getting my poetry published for the first time ever last month to writing about topics I never thought I’d write about if I didn’t have this amazing opportunity. Thank you so much to everyone that reads my article every month, the support means the world to me. I look forward to another six months with Upstate Exposures Magazine!
We are very pleased to announce that Rebecca will continue her internship with Upstate Exposures Magazine! Her insight into teen life and her enthusiasm for writing is extremely contagious.
And Rebecca – you are awesome! – Ms. Heather
